Taijiquan
Taijiquan - Supreme Ultimate Boxing - is the richly deserved title of one of the greatest martial arts the world has ever known. With a history spanning nearly a thousand years and a thousand bloody battles, we are still finding a place for this ever changing, deadly dance in our modern fast paced world.

"Tai Chi Chuan" as it is known in the west, is used by most people who endeavour to learn it as a way of improving health and longevity. Only when practiced at it's highest, and until now most secret, levels does Taiji become truly Supreme. There are several styles of Taijiquan still taught today, each having their own specific training methods and techniques, although all sharing similar attributes and theories. The most popular forms are the family styles of Yang, Chen, & Wu.

There is a degree of contention surrounding the origins of Taiji with both Chen and Yang practitioners claiming soul responsibility. However, recent evidence points to one man - Chang San Feng - as being the originator of the true art of Taijiquan. There are also many myths and legends surrounding Taiji. Everything from dreams, to fights between animals, has been used to explain the reason for Taiji. However, the need of one very learned man to protect himself, his home and his family in uncertain times remains for me, the most likely explanation.
